Hey guys! I’m trying out a new segment called Jellie’s Super Six, where I choose a dish and pick my favorite ones.
Now, pretty much any restaurant with a full menu has at least one salad in their portfolio– and trust me, my family has had a lot of them. Read more about the ones that have me craving below:
1.Backyard Kitchen’s Tinapa and Quinoa Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinegar (Php 255)
Yes, the name’s a bit of a mouthful but the salad is is definitely something something. Now, if you’re not into strong flavors, you might want to steer clear of this one. This salad has a lettuce base with quinoa, tinapa, salted duck egg, and alfalfa sprouts as the toppings. This is then drizzled with a honey balsamic vinegar. The salad is great if you enjoy salty and smokey tones balanced by a sweet and sour dressing.

2. Green Pastures’ Avocado Salad (Php 430: small; Php 595: large)
Green Pastures is the place to be if you want a nice variety to choose from. When we went they had run out of their January salad 😦 (I LOVE how they have something on their menu that changes on a monthly basis. This shows that their menu is driven by what’s best for that particular season!) So instead of getting the salad of the month, my friends and I got the Avocado Salad. This is one of those salads that’s great for sharing (it’s huge!) and it’s full of toppings. Avocado, corn, eggs, goat cheese, and chicken on lettuce–yum!

3. Fireside’s Grilled Chophouse Salad (Php 189: bowl; Php 389: platter)
This one is probably my favorite salad of all time. Initially, I thought it was a bit of a mess– there were sooooo many elements to the point that it was a bit confusing. But if you don’t think and just eat, this salad is definitely something you’ll dream about. This salad is packed with ingredients like grilled chicken, corn, apple, eggs, feta cheese, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, and pineapple (?) mixed in with chopped lettuce and kale. Yes, it sounds like a lot of random stuff– but it all goes together seamlessly.

4. Omakase’s Seaweed Salad (Php 150)
First thing we order when we go to Omakase is the Seaweed Salad. It’s pretty straight forward– a bed of lettuce, seaweed, sesame seeds, and a sweet and sour vinaigrette. A fresh way to start the meal!

5. Greeka Kouzina’s Caesar Salad
Imagine Caesar Salad without the fattening Caesar dressing. No, this salad is not the Greekest of options, but it’s a nice spin on an old favorite. According to the owner, they use Greek yogurt instead of the usual dressing, which adds a nice tang to the crispy greens. And of course, the calamari on top and a generous serving of cheese makes this one craveworthy!

6. Grace Park Three Page Salad (Php 280)
(Sorry for the blurry picture!) The last time I had this salad was in April 2014, but it’s probably one of the most memorable ones I’ve had to date. It’s called “3 page” since there are 3 “sheets” of crispy bread between the layers of organic greens and honey dijon dressing. The crispy bread is a unique alternative to the usual crouton.
